Real Estate Taxes

Real Estate Taxes for 2020 have remained the same as last year at 2.041 mills. Property owners receive two real estate tax notices, one in the spring and another in the fall. The spring billing is a combination of the Borough AND County Real Estate Taxes due on your property. This amount is based on the assessed value of your land and dwelling. The tax is calculated by multiplying the assessed value of your property times the millage rate. The fall tax billing is from the School District and is usually the larger of the two billings.

Questions on the Borough/County tax bill can be directed to the Adamstown Tax Collector - Rosie Johnston (717-484-4423) or the Lancaster County Assessment Office (717-299-8390).

Questions on the School District tax bill can be directed to the Cocalico School District tax office (717-336-1413) or the Lancaster County Assessment Office (717-299-8390).

Real Estate Transfer Tax

A 2% tax is collected when property is transferred from one owner to another. 1% goes to the State and 1% to the Borough.
